About me...
I am deeply interested in relationships and human connection. I believe that what we experience shapes who we are, how we understand ourselves, how we relate to others and how safe we feel in the world.

For nearly 20 years I have worked with people exploring trauma, relationships and the impact of life’s experiences. Over time I have come to see that many of the struggles people carry are understandable responses to what they have lived through.

I trained and worked for 15 years as a clinical psychologist within NHS mental health services. I now work independently. While my training and experience draw on a wide range of psychological models and approaches, my work today is trauma-informed and relational.

Throughout my career I have fought to de-stigmatise mental health problems by normalising the human experience through shared understanding, empathy and compassion.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I’m also interested in art, creativity and embodiment. Much of this work explores themes such as shame, power, connection and boundaries.

How I can help...

Many of the difficulties listed on the front page of this website are often understood as problems or disorders to eliminate. I tend to see them differently - as understandable ways people have learned to cope with what has happened in their lives. Therapy can be a space to make sense of those adaptations and to find ways forward that feel less heavy to carry.

Although I bring knowledge of psychological theories and therapies into the work when it is helpful, I believe that you are the expert in your own life. Our work together is not something I do 'to you' to 'fix you', but a shared process of discovery and understanding.

Together we would find a way of working that feels meaningful and containing for you. Sometimes that might involve talking and reflecting, sometimes creative exploration, or even walking and talking along the canal if that feels preferable.
